Dodge SRT Viper News

The highly anticipated 2013 SRT Viper was unveiled to the world yesterday at the New York auto show, the third generation of the extrovert supercar.

The car's familiar extreme proportions have been retained with its low stance and extreme cab rearward proportions of previous Viper models. The fender 'gills' and double-bubble roof also make a return.

A carbon-fiber hood, roof, decklid and aluminum door panels make their debut on the Viper, significantly reducing the weight, while the forward-hinged hood features the redesigned Viper badge, ‘Stryker', which was chosen by the Viper Club of America. Its lamp graphics fall into line with other recent Dodge models, particularly the tail lights with their 'racetrack' outline illumination.

Changes inside are more marked in an effort to improve on the heavily-criticized quality of the previous generations. The floor pan and bulkhead have been extended approximately 90mm to offer more legroom and more rearward seat track movement.
Burning up the pavement is always enjoyable. Putting up with spills and stains isn’t. See a connection here? The sportier the ride, the more protection it needs. That is never truer than it is with the interior. Custom Dodge Viper Floor Mats raise the security to a whole new level. 2013 Dodge Dart

After an early leak, the new 2013 Dodge Dart has finally been revealed to the public, with the stylish compact sedan debuting in front of audiences today at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show.
The vehicle, despite its lower-end positioning, is a crucial model in the Fiat-Chrysler empire as the car’s fuel efficiency recently saw Fiat reach the final of three goals that have allowed the Italian auto giant to increase its stake in Chrysler without paying any cash.
That final goal was the production of a 40 mpg vehicle in the U.S., a fuel efficiency rating the Dart achieved on the combined cycle during preliminary testing, something no other compact or subcompact gasoline-powered car has done so to date.
To be clear, the car tested was a pre-production vehicle, and Chrysler didn’t specify if the test was the EPA’s combined cycle used to calculate window sticker fuel economy. It's possible that the test vehicle was equipped with a new ZF-built nine-speed transmission, which is yet to be formally announced by Chrysler.
Nevertheless, the drivetrains that have been announced already have much to offer, consisting of three different engine options as well as three different transmissions. The engines include a base 160-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder, a mid-level 1.4-liter turbo four with MultiAir technology that’s also rated at 160 horsepower, and finally a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 184 horsepower on tap.
These three engines, combined with three transmission choices--six-speed manual, six-speed automatic or six-speed dual dry clutch--enable the 2013 Dart to provide the most diverse powertrain lineup in its class.

Five different trim levels will be available, SE, SXT, Rallye, Limited and R/T, all of which will come packed with plenty of standard features and advanced technology.
Dodge says it's keeping the Dart lean by using advanced materials--sourced from the Alfa Romeo DNA in its design. Sixty-eight percent of the body structure is made of high-strength steel, which can be thinner and lighter than standard steel. All of this forms the Compact U.S. Wide (CUS-wide), which will form the basis of several other models to come from the Fiat-Chrysler empire.
The Dodge Dart has helped carry the torch for the brand in dominant fashion. What makes the Dart special is the fact it is adaptable for such a wide range of drivers. And despite the vast differences in backgrounds and tastes of these motorists, Dodge Dart Spoilers remain a favorite custom option for most. It is certainly not a secret. A Dodge Dart Spoiler creates a whole new perception for this model. Classy, intense, and uniquely identifying, a Dodge Dart Spoiler enacts a relentless charge to the top that no one misses out on. We sure don’t! At CARiD.com, Car Spoilers and Rear Spoilers are always in high demand. With so many choices and an easy installation, they generate big-time results fast. Toyota's Tacoma News

Toyota's Tacoma may be getting a bit long in the tooth, but it's received a mild refresh for 2012, and a new "limited edition" package courtesy of in-house tuning arm, Toyota Racing Development. Toyota showed a preproduction TRD T/X Baja at last fall's Texas State Fair and then again at SEMA, with the real deal now poised to go on sale in May.
The Baja Series will start at $32,990, plus a delivery fee of $810. That's for a Tacoma Access Cab model with a manual transmission – the price scales up for automatic-equipped trucks and Double Cab models. The Baja Series package carries an MSRP of $5,015, but you get to subtract $650 in a "factory credit" if you order it, since the Baja's Off-Road Package is cheaper than the standard Tacoma Off-Road Package. Or to make things simpler, figure the Baja Series Tacoma is going to cost you $4,365 more than the same truck without it.
Besides the kit already included in the TRD Off-Road Package, which is required to get the Baja Series upgrades, the special Tacomas will feature BF Goodrich T/A KO tires (LT265/70R16) with bead-locking wheels, Bilstein shocks (front and rear), a TRD exhaust system, a two-inch front lift, and those snazzy Baja Series graphics.
You shouldn't have to squint cruising when the sun goes down. You shouldn't have to worry about making sure you see the road in front of you. Dodge Journey

I had a vague notion that the Dodge Journey would be a cheap, dull, and disappointing small crossover -- it was conceived five years ago during some of Chrysler Group's less successful years. I was pleasantly surprised, then, to drive the Journey and find it mature, stylish, and remarkably comfortable. Much credit goes to the Pentastar V-6, as excellent here as in any other new Chrysler vehicle; it provides ample power while remaining quiet and smooth. I really dig the LED taillights, and the interior (freshened for 2011) impressed me with its attractive materials and cool ambient lighting.
On the other hand, the bargain-basement radio and climate-control system is a huge disappointment. The touch screen is very small and flanked by giant, plain-looking buttons; its operation is complicated by the fact that the climate-control settings are displayed on the screen but adjusted only via large knobs located on the center stack. The whole setup feels really crude, as if it was cobbled together at the last minute.

2012 Dodge Charger Redline

The brand new 2012 Dodge Charger Redline is now with more aggressive look and delivers more dynamism in performance. This is due to the 426 HEMI®-powered showcase of new Mopar® performance kits. They will be available later this year. At the event of the 2012 North American International Auto Show, the Dodge Charger Redline vehicle with all three Mopar performance stage kits will make its first appearance.
What Mopar has done to enhance this beautiful vehicle is firstly to include aerodynamic carbon fiber exterior components and interior accents. In details these modifications include a full-width Mopar carbon fiber chin spoiler in order to give the Charger Redline a more aggressive appearance. Matching the Redline Tri-coat paint, the two-piece grille features a body-color painted-grille surround with black signature “crosshair” insert. Large 20 x 8-inch Mopar Black Envy Wheels feature a Pitch Black-painted wheel face with polished accents. In addition Mopar carbon fiber door scoops highlight Dodge Charger Redline’s signature body-side scallops and include heritage “R/T” badging (all this only to pay homage to the historic 1970 Charger version). To make the car more powerful there is also a three-piece Mopar carbon fiber rear spoiler. Moreover it also provides an even more dynamic look. To emphase Dodge Charger Redline’s fastback silhouette, Mopar made a vinyl roof graphic in matte black. Furthermore the Dodge Charger Redline’s cockpit design includes high quality materials and is additionally enhanced with a Mopar aluminum shift bezel and aluminum instrument panel bezel with Redline perimeter accent. Mopar had even taken care for the pedal covers, which are made from stainless steel and feature a rubberized pattern for improved traction.
Dodge is known for power, style, and performance. It's not just an automobile, it's an image.

2011 Dodge Durango

2011 Dodge Durango R/T Hemi RWDWhereas its Jeep cousin perpetuates that brand’s dirt fetish, the Durango pursues sport in a different discipline. The two trucks’ suspension layouts are the same, but the Dodge is longer than the Jeep by a full 10 inches, with an extra five between its axles. Additionally, the Durango’s shock and spring rates are stiffer, and it has larger anti-roll bars. The R/T further stiffens the shocks and springs and lowers the ride height by 0.8 inch. Like the Heat and Citadel trims, the R/T includes 20-inch Dodge wheels.
All that stiffening paid off. The Durango is a handler, with minimal body roll—particularly for something so tall. It’s also very well balanced. Note that the RWD’s 50/50- and AWD’s 51/49-percent front-to-rear weight distributions are the sort of figures that get us excited about sports sedans. There’s a touch of understeer at the limit, and a delightful enthusiasm for rotation, which is easy to control and rein in with the all-wheel-drive system or prolong without it. The AWD R/T proved to be slightly better on the skidpad, where we recorded 0.81 g of stick compared with 0.79 g for the rear-driver.
